Alan Leo Hanson, age 84, went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 15, 2018 at Tivoli Nursing Home in Portage.  He was born in Portage on Dec. 16, 1933 to Marvin and Dorothy (Turner) Hanson.  Alan was united in marriage to June S. Scott on July 5, 1952; she preceded him in death on Aug. 25, 2015.  Alan served in the Army National Guard.  He worked a variety of different jobs in his lifetime with his last job being a Property Manager at Portage Square apartments for over 16 years until his retirement in 2007.  He was a long time member of the Bible Baptist Church in Portage.  He was actively involved in a bus ministry there that would pick up children every Sunday to get them to church to hear God's word.  His faith was always very important to him and he would share with anyone who would listen.  In retirement Alan moved to the Sauk Prairie area and became a member of the GraceWay Church (formerly the Sauk-Prairie Evangelical Free Church) of Sauk Prairie over 10 years ago.  Recently he wanted to move back to where he grew up so Tivoli Nursing Home in Portage became his new home.  There he continued to share about his love for the Lord by starting a Bible study.  Alan enjoyed fishing, camping, wood working and time spent with family.

He is survived by his 6 children, Jim (Chalye), Scott (Deb), Russ (Laurie), Terry (Laura), Jeanine (Darren) Stone, and Tonya Hanson; siblings, Denny (Margo) Hanson and Julie (Steve) Leverich; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter Rebecca Coulter; and a brother, Harland Hanson.

Alan's family would like to thank SSM Health at Home, the Hospice House in Baraboo, Agrace Hospice, and Tivoli Nursing Home for their wonderful care.  The family would also like to say a special "thank you" to Jim Carlson for taking the time to visit with Alan.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 pm on June 22, 2018 at Graceway Church, 65 13 ^th St., Prairie du Sac.  A visitation will be held from 4:30 pm until the time of service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are appreciated.
