Alan Richard Root, age 59, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. He was born on August 15, 1955, the son of Lucille Ward. He was united in marriage to Christine "Chris" Bohan on April 16, 1997. Alan was proud to have been a concealed carrier, loved pizza and collecting lighthouses and lanterns. He had a feisty attitude and family was important to him.


He is survived by his wife, Chris; his mother, Lucille Ward; three daughters, Jessica (Troy) McConnell, Jennifer (Jesse) Brickl and Jill (Justin) Reilly; 8 grandchildren, Cathryn, Cameron, Cody, Carley, Casey, Andrew, Emily and Calista; two sisters, Nancy Bigford and Becky Solberg; niece Nichole; great niece Isabella; and an uncle Ed (Pam). He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Claire and Myrtle Ward.


A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2015 at the First United Church of Christ, Sauk City, with Pastor Bill Kapp officiating. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
