Obituary

Albert Brouwer passed away on January 3, 2012, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI. Al was born in Murray County, MN, on February 19, 1926, to John and Wilhemena (VandeKeift) Brouwer. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1948. On May 9, 1952 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth (Betty) Halbersma. She preceded him in death on December 14, 2011. Al and Betty lived in Minneapolis until moving back to Woodstock, MN, to farm. In 1971 they moved to Plover, WI, where Al worked in the maintenance department of Sentry Insurance. Following his retirement, they relocated to Hendersonville, NC. In May 2007 they moved to Prairie du Sac, WI.


Al is survived by a son, Curt (Becky) Brouwer of Woodway, WA; two daughters, Robin (Ken) Meier of North Freedom and Corine Brouwer of Pfafftown, NC; four grandchildren, Marcus (Diana) Meier of Madison, Kimberly Meier of Prairie du Sac, and DAniel and Alex Brouwer of Woodway, WA; a sister, Arleen (Cliff) DeZeeuw of Tulsa, OK; a sister-in-law, Rose Brouwer of Hadley, MN; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, Al was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbert and Marvin, an infant brother, an infant sister, and a nephew, Loren Brouwer.


Private services for Al will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Hooverson Funeral Home, Sauk City, with Pastor Bill Kapp officiating. Burial will be in Honey Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.
