Albert M. Maier, age 84, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, December 10, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Waunakee on June 16, 1924, the son of the late Wolfgang and Nellie (Esser) Maier. He was united in marriage to Anna Reisinger on September 3, 1946 at St. John's Church in Spring Green. Albert farmed in the Mazomanie area until 1955, and then was employed by the University of Wisconsin until retiring in 1989. Albert will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved working in the yard and walking his many dogs throughout his life. He is survived by his wife, Anna; 9 children, Patty Ganser, Kathleen Randall, Gene (Cathy), Jackie, Joann (Ron) Miller, Cindy (Tom) Schlick, Marcia, Janeen, and Bob (Tricia); 12 grandchildren, Meghan Quinn, Keegan (Lindsay) Quinn, Justin Maier; Jillian, Jacquelynne and Jenna Miller; Zachary and Katlyn Schlick; Kayla, Kayleen and Karley Maier; Mitchell Maier; 2 great-grandsons, Logan and Jayden Quinn; a sister, Eleanor (Jim) Kruchten; numerous other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, 4 brothers and 4 sisters; a son-in-law, Jim Ganser; and a grandson, Matthew Miller. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BARNABAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Mazomanie, at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 15, 2008 with Fr. John DelPriore officiating. A visitation will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Highway 14 West, Mazomanie, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 14, 2008 and also on Monday after 9:00 a.m. Albert's family would like to extend a special thank you to HospiceCare, Inc., and especially Peggy, for caring for Dad.
