Obituary

Albert R. Stoffels, age 92, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital. He was born in Sauk City on March 7, 1917, the son of the late Martin and Christina (Falkenstein) Stoffels. He was united in marriage to Ruth C. Austin on November 20, 1944. She preceded him in death on February 19, 2008. Albert owned and operated Stoffels Slaughtering Service and Meat Market. Prior to that he was the head of Sawyer Tie and Lumber Company in Sauk City. He was a former Sauk City Auxiliary Police Officer, and a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the Sauk Prairie Gun Club.

He is survived by 7 children, James (Dorene) Stoffels of Lyndon Station, Judith Stoffels of Madison, Kristin (Lynn) Midthun of Sauk City, Kathryn (Vern) Bronson of Madison, Margaret (Jerry) Roth of Prairie du Sac, Monica (Tim) Righter of Vienna, WV, Joseph Stoffels (Doug Balfanz) of Janesville; a sister, Marcella Wallace of Loveland, CO; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ALOYSIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Sauk City, at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, January 11, 2010 with Fr. John Blewett officiating. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Friends may call at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. on Monday.
