Dr. Albert "Bob" Nelson Weeks, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer's at the Pine Villa in Prairie du Sac, on Tuesday, December 2, 2014. Albert was born in 1923 in Seneca, WI to Norwegian immigrants Anna and Albert Weeks. After graduating from high school, Albert enlisted in the United States Navy Air Force and was stationed at Navy Pier in Chicago during WWII. After serving his country, he earned a degree in education from U.W. Platteville. On June 11, 1949 he married Donna Bailey, the love of his life. He was the high school Ag teacher in the Sauk Prairie School District from 1954-1964. While teaching in the district Albert encouraged his students to participate in local and state fairs. He was instrumental in continuing the development of the school forest by having his student's plant 6000 trees. It is interesting to note that this place is where the pines in currently located and ultimately became the place where he would spend his final days.
He left his teaching career to work for the State Department of Agriculture. After receiving his Doctorate Degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison he became the Business Administrator for the State Department of Agriculture. Albert and Donna were active members of the Lake Wisconsin Country Club and spent 19 winters in Arizona, practicing their golf swing.
Albert is survived by his wife Donna; children, Jane (Rich) Calenzo, Craig (Carey) Weeks, Julie (Joe) Breunig; 6 grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
A special thank you goes out to Steve and the staff at Pine Villa and Agrace Hospice for the kindness and compassion shown to dad. It was a touching moment when the staff at the Villa sang one last rendition of "Home on the Range", dads favorite song.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church, 100 Oak Street, Prairie du Sac. A visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the time of service.
