Alice Jeanette Grant, age 93, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. She was born in Chicago, IL on October 18, 1914, the daughter of the late Martin Lyle and Elizabeth (Stideford) Nelson. She graduated from Main Township High School in Park Ridge, IL in 1933. She was united in marriage to Charles A. Grant in 1935. Alice was employed as a secretary at Cathedral Shelter, Episcopal Church Social Service Agency in Chicago. She was an active member of St. Mary's Espicopal Church in Park Ridge, where she and Charles resided before moving to Lodi in 1978. Alice loved gardening and loved to sew, making many beautiful clothes for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She held high values of honesty, character and integrity, and love and belief in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol (Tom) Troestler of Prairie du Sac; daughter-in-law, Barbara Grant of Baraboo; 8 grandchildren, Donna Troestler of Middleton, Stephen (Martha) Troestler of Prairie du Sac, Michael (Nicole) Troestler of Milton, Maria (Chris) Lindquist of Prairie du Sac, Peggy (Bill) Whitting of Norfolk, VA, Cynthia (Jim) See of Pittsville, Charles Grant of Madison; 17 great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Scott, Mitchell, Lane, Meagan, Kevin, Justyn, Ryan, Jared, Kelly, Paige, Morgana, Ariana, Ewan, Samantha, Daniel and Garrett; other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; a son, David; and a sister, Marie Nelson.
A Memorial Service will be held at TRINITY EPISCOPAL CHURCH, 111 6th St., Baraboo, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2008. Friends may call at the church, one hour prior to the service. Following the service a luncheon will be held at the church. Interment will be in the church garden columbarium. Memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, Baraboo.
