Alice Rose Hawley, age 95, of Sauk Prairie passed away on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025 at Prairie Gardens Assisted Living in Sun Prairie.  She was born at home in the Prairie du Sac Township on Nov. 19, 1929 to the late John and Mary Magdelan (Walch) Meise.  She attended and graduated from the Sauk City High School.

Alice was united in marriage to James A. Hawley; he preceded her in death in 1968.  After her husband's death she worked for the Rock Co. Register of Deeds in Janesville for many years and sold life insurance policies for National Guardian Life from Madison.  She enjoyed social events, bowling league and dancing at the Park Ponderosa in McFarland.  Alice was also a talented silversmith and lapidarist, crafting jewelry, rings and finely polished rocks.

Alice is survived by her 4 boys, Keith Hawley, Philip Hawley, Paul Hawley, Rick Hawley; grandchildren, James (Stephanie) Hawley, Amber (Chris) Lambrecht, Michael (Rachel) Hawley; 4 great grandchildren and multiple great-great grandchildren; sisters, Ramona Bahr, Marion Yelk, Patricia Kimball, and Judith Weichmann.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Gayle, Dexter and an infant sister, Shirley Meise.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, Sept. 8th, at 3:00 pm in the St. Aloysius Cemetery, Sauk City.
