Alice M. Mathewson, age 102, passed away April 7, 2019 at the Pines Assisted Living in Prairie du Sac, WI. She was born on May 26, 1916 in the Township of Berry to the late Fred and Clara (Hawley)  Kalsow. On November 23, 1937 she was united in marriage to Wesley Jacobi. They lived on the Jacobi Farm and were blessed with one son, Charles. In November 1953 Wesley was killed in an automobile accident.

In March 1958 Alice and Charles moved to Mazomanie. For many years she cleaned houses in Madison and later worked for the State of Wisconsin. In July 1976 she married Clarence H. Mathewson and moved to the Mathewson Farm in the Township of Mazomanie. They enjoyed going to dances, listening to Big Band music, and quiet time in the country. Clarence passed away in December 2008. Alice enjoyed gardening, quilting, cooking, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was a member of United Church of Christ and Ladies Circle Two in Mazomanie.

Loving survivors include her son, Charles (Mary Ann) Jacobi; two granddaughters, Amy M. (Jason) Wollangk and Molly L. Jacobi (Craig Bryant); two great grandsons, Grant (13) and Braden (10) Wollangk, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands and parents she was preceded in death by one sister and eight brothers.

The family would like to thank The Pines Assisted Living and great staff for making her last years enjoyable. Also, thank you to Agrace HospiceCare for the special care she received the last several months.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the United Church of Christ, Mazomanie, WI with Pastor Denise Cole officiating. Burial will be in the Mazomanie Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the service.
