Obituary

Amy Marie Patterson, born March 6, 1962, in Sauk City, Wisconsin, to Jim and Marie Zajicek, passed away peacefully on January 13th 2026 at Agrace Hospice Care in Fitchburg.

Amy was a strong and faithful woman whose life was guided by her love for the Lord. Her faith was a cornerstone of who she was, and she was a devoted member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, where she found comfort, community, and purpose.  Amy enjoyed leading the rosary before mass on Sundays.

Amy shared a deep and loving bond with her siblings—Pat, Mary Jo, Gary, Kenny, and Jamie—who meant the world to her. Together, they shared countless memories growing up and carried cherished family traditions into adulthood. The Zajicek Christmas was something everyone always looked forward to, a true reflection of the love, laughter, and togetherness that defined their family. Through the many hospitals, challenges, and obstacles Amy faced, her siblings were always by her side, offering unwavering support and love.

Amy attended grade school at St. Aloysius parochial school, later graduating in the class of 1981 at Sauk Prairie High School.

On July 10, 1982, Amy married Rick Patterson, her high school sweetheart. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love, built on years of shared memories, devotion, and time spent together. Amy and Rick especially loved going for rides together and trying new restaurants, finding joy in the simple moments they shared—memories Rick will forever cherish and miss deeply.

Amy was an incredibly hard worker, and her dedication to her work was second to none. She spent 25 years at Springs Window Fashions in Middleton, where she was known for her strong work ethic and reliability. She later continued that same dedication during her five years at Plastic Ingenuity in Cross Plains, always taking pride in giving her very best.

In October of 1983, Amy welcomed her son Ryan into the world, and in February of 1987, she welcomed her daughter Megan into the world. Her children meant the world to her. Amy was a devoted and loving mother, always there for her kids with unwavering support, strength, and unconditional love.

Ryan married Jaime (Drews), and Megan married Darin (Kuhnke), bringing even more joy into Amy's life. She was blessed with five grandchildren—Christian, Louie, Brianna, Mason, and Jordy—whom she absolutely adored. They loved their grandma very much and shared countless wonderful memories with her. Amy truly loved all her grandchildren with her whole heart.

Amy was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Marie Zajicek, who meant the world to her as well as her loving father-in-law Paul Patterson. Amy was also preceded by her brother in law Rod Peterson.

She is survived by her loving husband Rick Patterson; her children Ryan (Jaime) Patterson and Megan (Darin) Kuhnke; her cherished grandchildren Christian, Louie, Brianna, Mason, and Jordy; her brothers Pat Zajicek, Gary (Wanda) Zajicek, Kenny (Sheila) Zajicek, and Jamie (Sylvia) Zajicek; and her sister Mary Jo Peterson. Also, her loving mother-in-law Maureen Patterson, along with the rest of the Patterson family who had a special place in her heart.  As well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 115 Madison Street, Sauk City, on Monday, January 19, 2025, at 11:30 a.m., with Fr. Miguel Galvez presiding. A visitation will be held prior to the service at Hooversons Funeral Home, 251 Water Street, Sauk City, from 9:00-11:00 am. A luncheon will follow the Mass at The Dorf Haus in Roxbury at 1:15 p.m.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of Amy's care team, especially the staff at Agrace Hospice Care in Fitchburg, whose compassion, dedication, and relentless pursuit of comfort for Amy will always be remembered and deeply cherished.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
