Arden R. Ballweg, age 70 of Roxbury, passed away May 24th at his home after battling cancer. He was born August 18, 1953, in Roxbury, son of Robert and Mabel (Kruchten) Ballweg.
A life-long dairy farmer, Arden enjoyed caring for the land which was kept in the family for over 100 years. His real pride was raising his children on the farm and watching them raise his nine grandchildren. Arden enjoyed hunting, especially with family on the farm. He loved to gamble at casinos and was good at playing his odds in the stock market as well. In his free time, he could be found playing cards with his friends, family, or grandkids. Ardie was a skilled wood worker and often shared his talent with others. He was engaged to be married to Carol Gracik and together they enjoyed traveling and being together with friends and family.
Survivors include his fiancé, Carolyn Gracik; children, Marsha Brown, Matthew (Lola) Ballweg, and Lori (Toby) Hellenbrand; grandchildren, Mackenzie, Miles, Abby, Landon, Elise, Ivan, Ellie, Madeline, and Eli; mother to his children and former wife of 46 years, Jean (Hanks) Ballweg; sisters, Sr. Joyce, Faye (Steve) Endres and Julie (Dennis) Crawford; brother, Bennett (Patricia) Ballweg; brother-in-law, Robert Boehnen, sister-in-law, June Ballweg along with nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mabel (Kruchten) Ballweg; sisters, Shirley Boehnen, Ruth Hellenbrand, Ella Roth, and Leta Pearce; brothers, Mark and Wayne; brothers-in-law, Walter, Ronald, and Doug.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 3 at 11:00 AM at St. Norbert's Catholic Church, 8944 Cty Hwy Y, Roxbury with Fr. Joe Baker presiding. A meal and celebration of life to follow at the Dorf Haus, Roxbury. A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 2 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City and the morning of mass at the funeral home from 10:00 am until 10:45 am.
Ardie's family would like to thank all the friends and family who visited him at his home over the last few months; he loved all the card games and laughter shared around his table.
