Arlene C. Butson, age 69, passed away at home Saturday, July 9, 2011 surrounded by family. She was born in Cassville, WI on January 20, 1942 to the late Herman and Helen (Hampton) Dresen. She married Walter Butson on July 2, 1960. Arlene worked at Swiss Colony in Monroe, the Wisconsin Department of Revenue, and most recently at Lands End in Cross Plains, before retiring in 2006. She enjoyed traveling with Walter and being "snowbirds" in Arlington, TX.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Walter; six children, Todd of Milwaukee, LaVern of Madison, Lori of Madison, Terry of Lone Rock, Wally (Dena) of North Freedom, and Mern (Judy) of Spring Green; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; five siblings, Dorothy (Fred) Koeller of Potosi, LaVern Dresen of Platteville, Donna Stephens of Prairie du Chien, Elaine (Jerry) Uppena of Potosi, and Dennis (Lori) Dresen of Mineral Point. She is further survived by other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Delores.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 11:00 am at the FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 250 E. Richland St., Lone Rock, with Pastor Steven Schneider officiating. Friends may call at the church from 9:00 am until time of service. Interment will be held at a later date in the Mazomanie Cemetery.
