Arlene L. Wipperfurth, age 90, died on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at home surrounded by family. She was born on the family farm on March 19, 1927, the daughter of the late Bernard "Bennie" and Emma (Willey) Henn. She was united in marriage to Sylvester "Wipp" Wipperfurth on October 21, 1947. Before starting her family, she worked for Commonwealth Telephone Company and in later years for Ziemke and Becker Jewelry Store. Arlene was bookkeeper for Wipperfurth Construction (30+ years), volunteered with the League of Women Voters (30 years), Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital, Sauk City Public Library Board (24 years, 20 as Secretary). As a lifelong member of St. Aloysius Church, she served as President of the Alter Sodality and on the lunch committee for funerals. She loved reading and learning, enjoyed music, dancing, travel, gardening, crossword puzzles, the Packers, and card playing. She was a kind-hearted woman with a sense of humor always sharing a smile with family and friends.
She is survived by her four children, LuAnn (Richard) Hofland of Madison, Linda Heiney (Tom Weiss) of Sauk City, Mike (Jean Unmuth) of Sauk City, and John (Janet) of Mazomanie; six grandchildren, Tim (Tina) Heiney, Kristine (Patrick) Foley, Amanda Solis, Isaac (Bri), Luke, and Scott Wipperfurth; and six great-grandchildren, Emma, Connor, Matthew Heiney, Levi Solis, Erin Foley, Oliver Wipperfurth and two pending; Sister Elaine (Jerry) Lochner, and in-laws Mae, Anne, Leo Wipperfurth, Delores (Dick) Frey, Joe (Nancy), Ray (Shirley) Wipperfurth, and Helen (Ron) Meinholz; along with nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband (56 years together!), she was preceded in death by son-in-law John Heiney, sister Lois (Bob) Fuller, and in-laws Robert, Alvin, Jerome (Gloria), Joan Wipperfurth, and Patricia (Don) Swingle.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Sauk City, at 11:30 am on Monday, October 9th with Father Miguel Galvez officiating. Burial will follow at St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00-3:00 pm on Sunday, October 8th, and again from 10:30 to 11:15 am on Monday, October 9th, at Hooverson Funeral Home in Sauk City. A Rosary will be prayed at 10:00am on Monday at the funeral home.
