Arlo E. "Gene" Hill, age 62, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Mazomanie, on Thursday, Dec. 18 2014. He was born in Madison on December 12, 1952 to the late Arlo E. Sr. and Alice (Bilderback) Hill. Gene graduated from Middleton High School in 1971. He was a cross country truck driver before deciding to attend Edgewood College, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing in 1996.
On August 1, 1998 he married the love of his life Janean Jones. He enjoyed the outdoors, birdwatching, photography, traveling, and riding his bike. Gene was an active Mission Partner at New Heights Lutheran Church and a member of the Vision Team.
He is survived by his sweetheart and silver fox of 16 years, Janean (Jones) of Mazomanie; his children Tamara, Nathanael, Natasha, and Jonathan; Janean's children, Russ "R.J." and Shaun Stuessy; a grandson Alexander Stuessy; special nephew Drew Smith and his children, Gavin and Jordan; siblings Bishop Evelyn Hill, Maxine Meixner, and Kathy Smith; a sister in-law, Mary Jane Hill; his mother in-law Marguerite Jones; a special canine companion Vito; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Arlis Lorraine "Rusty" Thompson; a brother Dahrl Hill and his father in-law Carl Jones Sr.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at New Heights Lutheran Church, 1705 Center St. , Black Earth. A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday, December 22, 2014 at Hooverson Funeral Home, Hwy 14 West, Mazomanie, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be made in Gene's name to New Heights Lutheran Church Land and Building Fund, District 1 E.M.S., or a charity of your choice.
