Arnold "Arnie" Speth, age 79, passed away on Thurs. Sept. 17, 2015 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. He was born at home in Roxbury Township on Feb. 23, 1936 to the late Edmund and Hilda (Eckstein) Speth. Arnie graduated from Sauk City High School in 1954. He was united in marriage to Audrey R. Breunig on Oct. 29, 1966 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Sauk City. Together they farmed the Speth family farm in Roxbury Township until Arnie's retirement in 1999. Following retirement, Arnie worked at St. Vincent DePaul in Prairie du Sac, which he enjoyed until 2011. Arnie was a lifelong member of St. Norbert Catholic Church in Roxbury. He loved playing sheepshead, enjoyed fishing and cheered on the Packers. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul.
Arnie is survived by his wife, Audrey; 3 daughters, Sharon (Roger Allen) Blechinger, Brenda Speth, and Janet (Dale) Patterson; 6 grandchildren, Tristan Blechinger, Adriana Speth, Jessica, Luke, Leah and Rachel Patterson; a sister, Marge (Don) Breunig; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Speth, and a nephew, Tom Breunig.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015 at St. Norbert Catholic Church, Roxbury with Fr. John Blewett officiating. A visitation will be held on Monday, Sept. 21, 2015 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Hooverson Funeral Home, Sauk City where a Rosary will be prayed at 3:45pm. Visitation will also be held the morning of the service from 10:00 am until 10:45 am at the funeral home. Burial will be held at St. Norbert Cemetery.
