Arthur P. "Art" Huerth, age 91, died on Tuesday, August 30, 2011. He was born in Sauk County on Sept. 17, 1920, the son of the late Theodore and Laura (Wartzok) Huerth. Art was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II with the 103rd Infantry Division and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Kippley on September 11, 1947. She preceded him in death on May 2, 1998.
Art was a life-long Sauk County farmer. He loved spending time at the cabin up north, hunting and fishing, and was an avid Packer fan.
He is survived by eight children, Kathy (Dave) Uselman, Linda (Jerry) Bethke, Faye (Steve) Cullen, Mary (Dennis) Greiber, Ron (Lucy) Huerth, Alan (Tammie) Huerth, Mark (Beth) Huerth and Lisa (Chris) Ganser, all of the Sauk Prairie area; twenty grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Ralph (Ethel) Kippley; a sister-in-law, Harriet Kippley; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert; and two sisters, Marie Needham and Lucille Cramer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ALOYSIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Sauk City, at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 2, 2011 with Fr. Jared Hood officiating. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Friends may call at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2011.
