Arthur "Art" Raymond Kehl, age 72, passed away on Sun. Apr. 10, 2016 at Agrace Hospice Care in Fitchburg surrounded by the people he loved after a two year battle with cancer. He was born in
Watertown, WI on Mar. 2, 1944 to Arthur W. and Rose P. Kehl. Art graduated from Watertown High School, class of 1962. He married Cheryl "Cheri" Schwefel on Feb. 2, 1974. Art enjoyed working in the restaurant business and operated the Nibble Nook in Watertown. Later, he and Cheri moved to Bear Valley and converted an old school house into Vittles & Fixins. For 15 years the restaurant was known by the locals for its fish fry, Sunday morning buffet and a place for the neighbors to meet. He enjoyed the outdoors, splitting wood, hunting, and was instrumental in creating quality deer management in the Bear Valley area. Since Art was a young boy he enjoyed raising show pigeons, and coached track for 15 years at River Valley, Muscoda, and Ithaca schools.
He is survived by his wife Cheri; 3 children, Christopher Kehl of San Antonio, TX, Heather (Brandon) Breunig of Sauk City, and Aaron (Sokhonn) Kehl of Olympia, WA; 3 grandchildren, Megan, Amelia, and Braylin; a great-granddaughter, Emberleigh; his mother, Rose Kehl and a sister Nancy Kehl; other relatives and friends.
Art was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Richard.
A Funeral Service will be held at 6:00 pm at Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City, WI. on Thur., Apr. 14, 2016. A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until the time of service. Art's family invites everyone to attend his interment that will be held at Our Lady of the Fields Shrine Cemetery at 10:30 am on Fri. Apr. 15.
Art's family wishes to thank the entire staff at U.W. Carbone Cancer Center and the Agrace Hospice Care Center in Fitchburg.
