Obituary

Audrey Irene Schutz, 97, left her loving earth family to join her glorious heavenly family on November 16, 2025. Born on December 31, 1927, she was the eleventh child of thirteen to Bert and Sarah (Breunig) Reuter. Although it was not her plan to outlive her siblings, she is the last one to join their parents.

Audrey was united in marriage to Edward "Eddie" Schutz on May 10, 1950 and he preceded her in death on March 21, 1994. After dad's passing, besides taking care of her family, mom was able to find joy with her family and friends with some of her favorite outings including a good game of Euchre. She had many groups of friends whom she enjoyed playing cards with through the years. The past ten years she has enjoyed Tuesday Euchre tournaments at St. John's and Wednesday tournaments in Sumpter, making it to her last card outing just two weeks ago.

Audrey's faith was her guiding star and we are blessed that she taught us all how to love God and believe in His presence in our lives. She gladly accepted her role as caretaker and met each of those challenges with acceptance and grace. She was an amazing cook and baker and shared her talents with family, friends and neighbors and was famous for her caramel nut rolls.

Audrey loved a good chicken dinner and never said no to going to one. Her favorites were Thursdays at the Eagle Inn with her nephews (the Maier boys), the Dorf Haus, and the Roxbury Trap Club. She also had specific food requests that her nephew, Kurt Breunig, would treat her with. Our sincere thanks to Kurt for all the time he gave to her and his loving acts!

Audrey's family also expresses their sincerest gratitude to the entire staff at The Pines Assisted Living. When she moved there in August due to her health, we did not think it was possible for her to have more meaningful moments- but she did. She enjoyed a pontoon ride, hay ride and simply going for drives, always feeling safe and cherished by the staff. From owners to management to caregivers, their care and commitment to quality of life truly enriched her in her final months.  Lastly, we cannot properly thank and show enough gratitude to Kevin Klingenmeyer of Agrace, who walked Audrey and her family through everything she endured from the beginning in June of this year until her passing. His compassion and commitment to her dignity impacted us all in a way that we will never forget as he helped mom make her own decisions right up until the end.

Audrey is survived by her children; LaVon (Don) Accola, Annette (Cliff) Kaufman and Dionne (Duncan) Kaufman. She is further survived by her grandchildren; Dana (Eric) Goth, Scott Accola, Kevin (Melanie) Kaufman, Kelsey (Lee) Kersting, Lindsey (Dan Alexander) Kaufman and Lauren Kaufman. She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Marlene Reuter as well as many nieces and nephews.

Her greatest joy was meeting and spending time with all of her great grandchildren, Audrey, Charlotte and Everett Goth, Ellie and Abbie Kaufman, Isaac, Jacob, David and Andrew Kersting, and Kaydan and Maia Alexander.

Besides Eddie, her parents, and siblings, Audrey was preceded by her most beloved daughter, Colleen, in 2016.
