IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barb
Morrison
July 27, 1950 – July 1, 2024
Barb (Bina) Morrison, age 73, of Prairie du Sac, passed away peacefully Monday July 1, 2024, at home with her husband by her side. She was born July 27, 1950, in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Bina.
Barb graduated from Brookfield East High School, Class of 1968 and UW Madison School of Nursing, Class of 1972. She earned her Registered Nurse license upon graduation, working in Emergency Rooms of UW Hospitals and Clinics and Meriter Hospital in Madison for a career spanning 50 years.
While at the UW she was a member of the Pom Pon Squad and Angel Flight.
A fixture at the UW Athletic department, she was a nurse in the First Aid Station for hockey, football, volleyball and wrestling. She loved being a UW Badger, holding season tickets for men's hockey since 1972 and women's hockey from the beginning. A friend of the UW Band she attended every spring band concert since 1975. She coached the Pom Pon squad for 10 years.
During her nursing career she excelled at being an educator, teaching at the UW Paramedic Program guiding countless students in patient care for 52 years, and a sought-after lecturer at conferences. Barb was a helicopter crew member for the holiday weekend Air National Guard 'Friend in the Sky' Program
Her life was filled with exploration and adventure. Barb was an avid reader and gardener, with an extensive library and garden. She was a treasure trove of trivia and singer knowing all the words to all the songs. A seeker of knowledge, she found no subject too big or too small for her curiosity. Lover of the earth, the sun, the moon, nature was her guide. She felt the ancient history of her ancestry in her many trips to Ireland. A healer and listener, she had a hardy laugh to fill a room. She wore her heart on her sleeve and could happy cry and sad cry all in the same experience. She was a certified Luddite and member of the Led Pencil Club.
Barb was an amazing wife, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and colleague. An old soul, she loved her 120-year-old Victorian home, and would have probably been happiest living in the period in which it was built. Though always the smartest person in the room, she never made you feel like you didn't belong.
She is deeply missed by her best friend and husband Doug, brother Michael (Danielle) Bina of Green Bay and their sons Joey and Mick of Chicago, sister Diane (James) Vetter of West Bend and their daughters Kathryn (Dr. Dan) Cibich of Wauwatosa and Emily (AJ) Weiskopf of Kimberly, loving friend and colleague Nancy Robinson, first husband Dr. Marv Birnbaum, and an endless number of cousins, friends and coworkers too numerous to list.
Thanks to the Agrace Hospice home team of Kevin and Mary for their incredible support.
A celebration of Barb's life will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from12:00 Noon to 2:30 PM at Olbrich Gardens Evjue Commons,3330 Atwood Avenue Madison, WI 53704. Memorials may be given to: American Indian College Fund, 8333 Greenwood Blvd, Denver, CO 80221

With a grin and a wink, she'd say, 'See you on the other side'.
