Barbara Reed Horton, age 90, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Maplewood Nursing Home. She was born in Milwaukee on July 4, 1920 the daughter of the late Paul and Lillian (Anderson) Reed. She was married to Charles M. Horton on February 12, 1947. Barbara was employed at the Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital for 26 years and an active volunteer in the community for many years.


Survivors include two children, Reed (Jeanne) Horton of Spring Green and Charles (Kim) Horton of Prairie du Sac; five grandchildren, Scott Horton of DeForest, Robert (Krista) Horton of Spring Green, Sara (Chad) Scott of Sun Prairie, Jason Horton of Mazomanie and Jamie Horton of Madison; and six great-grandchildren, Michael, Marcus, Mason, Emma, Ayden Horton and Carley Scott.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Mary Buech; and a brother, George Reed.


A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 22 at Hooverson Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Kapp officiating. Interment will be by her husband in Arlington National Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to service at the funeral home on Friday.
