Barbara "Barb" Marie Breunig, age 58, passed away at U.W. Hospital in Madison on June 23, 2025 after a valiant 8-year battle with cancer; her never complain attitude is inspiring to all those around her.  She was born Apr. 2, 1967 to Robert and Florence (Ballweg) Rau.  Barb graduated from Sauk Prairie High School; class of 1985.  She went on to attend U.W Whitewater, Madison Business College and Upper Iowa University. Barb was united in marriage to Scott Breunig on Mar. 13, 1991 in Las Vegas.  She and Scott were blessed with a daughter Jessica on August 15th, 1991.  Together they made their home in the West Point Township.

In her high school years, Barb would enjoy waking up early making donuts at Burnstads, later working for Lands' End for several years, ABS Genetics and lastly at Semex, retiring in 2022.

Barb and Scott enjoyed road trips and going on tour in their UTV and visiting new supper clubs throughout the state.  Barb looked forward to her trips to Gulf Shores, and walks on the beach.  She enjoyed reading, wonder words, and puzzles, time spent with her family and her granddog, Millie.

Barb is survived by her husband, Scott and daughter, Jessica; siblings, Judy (Paul) Spoerl, Brenda, (Bryan) Schwarz, Brian (Janet) Rau; her mother in-law, Marie; brother and sister in-laws, Brent (Patty), Jason "Jay" (Tracy), Dan (Dawn).  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father in-law, Gary Breunig.

Scott and Jessica would like to express their sincerest thanks to the many Dr.'s and nurses at U.W Hospital for their wonderful care of Barb.

A visitation for Barb will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City.  A private family service will be held with interment in the St. Aloysius Cemetery.
