Bernadette M. "Bernie" Lucey, age 83, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2009 at Pines Assisted Living in Prairie du Sac. She was born in Mazomanie on July 13, 1925, the daughter of the late Michael and Katherine (Pechan) Lucey. She graduated from Mazomanie High School on May 18, 1943. Bernie was employed by Cuna Mutual Group for twenty years, retiring in 1987. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, golfing, and had a love for animals. She is survived by her twin brother, Bernard (Doranna) Lucey of Prairie du Sac, sister-in-law, Marvyle Lucey of Tucson, AZ; four nephews, Mike Lucey, Steve (Carmen) Lucey and their children, Jennifer and Michelle Lucey; Greg Lucey; and Patrick (Julie) Lucey; two nieces, Barbara (Mario) Miranda and their children, Olivia, Alex and Chris; and Karen (Mark) Paradise and their daughter, Elizabeth. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Merle (Arlene) Lucey and Jack Lucey; and two sisters, Josephine (Mel) Coyle and Sister Mary Barnaba. A funeral service will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Mazomanie, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 16, 2009 with Fr. John DelPriore officiating. Burial will follow in St. Barnabas Cemetery.
