Bernard R. Breunig, age 75, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at Maplewood Nursing Home in Sauk City. He was born in Roxbury, February 7, 1936 to the late Germain and Gertrude (Weynand) Breunig. Bernard married Patricia Meinholz at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ashton on September 23, 1958. Together they farmed the same farm for over 52 years. He was a member of the Blackhawk Chapter of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years and a life long member of the St. Norbert's Parish.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; eight children, Frank (Theresa), Alex (Tonya), Nancy (Kirk) Einhorn, Joan (Mike) Mestelle, Edward (Kathy), Kathy (Dan) Pethan, Sam (Ande), Gerilyn (Eric) Darnell; 21 grandchildren, Matthew and Hannah Breunig, Calynne (Kristen) Breunig, Coleman (Heather) Breunig, Cleary Breunig, Nick Rasmussen, Dylan Breunig, Victoria (Mike) Heitzer, Mardell (Adam) Einhorn, Nathan Einhorn, Jacob, Molly, and Bethany Mestelle; Alyse, Riley and Eddie Breunig; Joseph, Benjamin and Thomas Pethan; Carter and Emma Darnell; one great-grandchild, Kaleigh Rasmussen; brothers and sisters, Ethel (Ralph) Kippley, Donna Ferguson, Ted (Pam), David (LaLonnie), Dennis (Jeanne); and two sisters-in-law, Jeannette and Linda Breunig. Bernard is further survived by many brothers and sisters-in-laws; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, Douglas and Patrick; two brothers, George and Louis; and a sister-in-law, Mary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 11:00am at St. Norbert's Catholic Church, Roxbury, with Fr. John Blewett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Hooverson Funeral Home from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, where a Rosary service by the Knights of Columbus will be held at 3:30 pm. Visitation will resume the morning of the service from 10:00 am until 10:45am at the funeral home.
