July 13, 1925 – April 21, 2010
Bernard Joseph Lucey, age 84, passed on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital. He was born in Mazomanie, July 13, 1925 to the late Michael and Katherine (Pechan) Lucey. Bernard graduated from Mazomanie High School in 1943. He joined the U.S. Army and served in Germany from 1942-1944. Bernard married Doranna Haselwander on May 17, 1950. They were happily married for almost 60 years. He worked for the Milwaukee Road Railroad for 37 years, retiring in 1984. Bernard enjoyed traveling by Amtrak, playing cards, fishing, having morning coffee with friends, and he especially enjoyed visits from his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by, his wife Doranna, Sauk City; four children, Barbara (Mario) Miranda, Columbus, OH, Michael Lucey, Sauk City, Steve (Carmen) Lucey, Madison, and Karen (Mark) Paradise, Madison; six grandchildren, Jennifer and Michelle Lucey, Olivia, Alex, and Cris Miranda, Elizabeth "ZiZi" Paradise. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Merle and Jack Lucey; three sisters, Sr. Mary Barnaba, Josephine Coyle, and his twin sister Bernadette.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 11:00 am at St. Aloysius Catholic church, Sauk City. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with military rites accorded by the Lachmund-Cramer VFW Post 7694. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 am until time of service.
