Obituary

Our mother, Bernice J. Smith, passed away into eternal life, suddenly on April 4, 2017 from heart failure. Mom was born to the late Martin and Alice (Olson) Uptagraw in the county of Dane. Her loving soul mate of 54 years, Norbert R. Smith, passed away last April 30th 2016.

Mom was our shining rock here on earth and will continue in spirit. She was always the one, family and friends called to discuss their highs and lows of life. They could hear her confronting words, praises and her guidance.

Mom was a stay at home mother, but took care of everyone, including her mother in law for 20 years. People are not always blessed to have parents and grandparents like ours. They will always be our rock and will be dearly missed, always loved and forever in our hearts.

Survivors include, Chris (Ivan Jr.) Steckelberg , Steve Reiners, Linda Lyons, Jackie (Duane) Lange. She enjoyed her 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren her one great great grandchild; 2 sisters Maxine (Pat) Uptagraw, Marlene (Richard) Walls.

She was welcomed into Heaven by her Husband, Norbert R. Smith and sister, Ruthann Uptagraw, 2 brothers Dick and Bob Uptagraw and 2 nephews, Jeff Uptagraw and Mark.

The family would like to thank the Sauk Prairie Hospital and the staff for their kind services given to our Mother, and Hooverson Funeral Home.
