IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bette Mae
Best
April 22, 1933 – December 18, 2020
Bette Mae Best, age 87, passed away in the comfort of her own home in Prairie du Sac, Dec. 18, 2020 with her daughter Lisa by her side. Bette was born in Prairie du Sac, Apr. 22, 1933 to the late Rudolph and Ella (Goldberg) Mueller. She grew up on Dam Heights Rd., above the Wisconsin River. Her father worked as a dam maintenance engineer for the Wisconsin Power & Light Company. Bette graduated from Prairie du Sac High School in 1951 with several honors. In 1954, she graduated from nursing school in Madison and began a long career as a registered nurse. In June 1955, she married Charles Best and they headed to Miami, Florida to build a life together for the next 25 years. He preceded her in death in September 1980. After retirement in 2007, she settled back to her hometown of Prairie du Sac close to the Presbyterian Church where she was baptized many years before. She enjoyed reconnecting with old friends and making new friends. Bette was a loving friend to nature and enjoyed the outdoors. She loved to garden and lunch with her friends and was accomplished at the needle arts.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa; three grandchildren, Madeline D'Adamio, Natalie D'Adamio, and Charles Best D'Adamio; nieces, Vana Allen, Stacey Henry (Bobby Henry), and Leslie Mueller-Johnson (Steve Johnson), and sister-in-law Delores (Best) Aderman.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Frederick (Fred) and sister-in-law, Joyce (Roberts) Mueller.
As per Bette's wishes, no service will be held. She hopes family and friends would heed her advice to "enjoy life and make time to have fun".
