Betty R Schoenrock, age 92, died Friday, April 15, 2016, at Greenway Manor in Spring Green, WI. Betty was born on July 15, 1923, in Kaukauna, WI, to Earl and Catherine (Murray) Whitman. In 1924, the family moved to Kapuskasing, Ontario, Canada, where Betty attended school and received a high school diploma.

After high school, Betty moved to Appleton, WI, where she graduated from Bowlby Business College. She worked for the Wisconsin-Michigan Power Company until joining the Waves in 1943. After discharge in 1946, Betty returned to Appleton where she worked for the Rent Control Office and the Wisconsin Telephone Company until 1949.

Betty married Keith Schoenrock on June 25, 1949, in New London, WI. In 1950, they settled in Garretson, SD, where Keith and his father, Leo Schoenrock, were building the Zion Lutheran Church.
Betty worked for the Garretson Cooperative Telephone Company (now Alliance Communications) until 1971 when she moved back to Appleton, WI. She worked at Aid Association for Lutherans (now Thrivent) until she retired in 1985. She then volunteered for several years at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Brenda Ann Thiel, Sherman, SD, sister Helen Larson, Prairie du Chien, WI, brother Earl (Betty) Whitman, Mountain Home, ID, sister Sandra (James) Medeiros, Ballwin, MO, and several nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Shirley Ladwig and brother James Whitman.
