Beverly Ann Frey, age 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at The Pines Assisted Living in Prairie du Sac. She was born May 15, 1941 to Gordon and Lonita (Meyer) Schara. She was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Frey on November 14, 1957. During their 52 years of marriage they lovingly raised 6 children on their farm. Bev spent a large part of her life helping milk cows and will be fondly remembered for her home cooking and baking. Midlife she worked for Springs Cafeteria in Middleton, then in her later years at St Vincent De Paul in Prairie Du Sac. Bev also found joy in refinishing wood and lending a hand to family doing various home projects. She found the time to be an avid and talented quilter. She was a devoted member of St. Norbert Church in Roxbury.
Bev is survived by her children; Cherie (Mike) Kruchten, Lynda (Rich) Brereton, Diana (Lance) Mefford, Dennis (Jenny) Frey, and Dale (Melanie)Frey; daughter in-law, Julie Frey; Grandchildren, Brad Kruchten (Heather), Angela Kruchten, Ryan (Kristin) Kruchten, Leeann (Trevor) Prochaska, Ben (Lindsey) Frey, Carli Frey, Kayla (Kyler) Sonnentag, Jared (Kristen) Brereton, Ashley Frey (Mark), Ridge Frey, Amber (Dakota) Bittner, Lauren Mefford, Courtney (Bill) Blake, Logan Frey, and step-grandson Tyler (Allison) Shanks; 11 great grandchildren; sisters in-law, Betty Niesen and Bernie Meinholz, and brother in-law, Herb Frey.
In addition to her husband Bob who passed away on Feb. 10, 2010, she was preceded in death by twin infant sons, a son Danny Frey, a grandson Mitchell Frey, and a brother Gordon Schara along with her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at St. Norbert Catholic Church, 8944 County Hwy Y, Sauk City with Fr. James Kotch celebrating. A visitation will be held the morning of mass from 9:00 am until 11:15 am at Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City. Burial will follow at the St. Norbert Cemetery. The family invites all to continue celebrating Bev's life at the Dorf Haus following the committal service.
Bev's family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to the Pines Assisted Living staff for their loving care of Mom for the past three years, and also, Kevin from Agrace Hospice and staff for more recent care.
