Blanche Elizabeth Allen, age 89, died on Monday, April 5, 2010 at her home. She was born in LaFarge on July 16, 1920, the daughter of the late James and Lillian (Yaeger) Callaway. She was united in marriage to Paul Snyder on June 16, 1940. He preceded her in death. She then married Harvey Allen on February 14, 1944. He also preceded her in death. Blanche was a member of Concordia United Methodist Church, the Royal Neighbors of America, and was instrumental in starting an exercise group which continues to meet at the Sauk City Library.

She is survived by 5 children, Paul (Rosemary) Snyder, David (Karen) Allen, James (Ellen) Allen, Mary (Butch) Gieck, and Larry Allen; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Dorothy) Callaway; 3 sisters-in-law, Carol Callaway, Effie Allen, and Inga Allen; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by 5 sisters and 3 brothers.

Funeral services will be held at CONCORDIA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Prairie du Sac, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2010 with Pastor Jeff Virchow officiating. Burial will be in Salem Ridge Cemetery, rural LaFarge. Friends may call at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7, 2010.
