Bonnie Ann Merlet, age 70, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2012 at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 8, 1942 in Antigo, the daughter of the late Harvey and Helen (DeGolier) Beversdorf. She grew up in Birnamwood and graduated from Birnamwood High School in 1960. She then attended UW-Stevens Point, where she was proud to be a cheerleader for the football and basketball teams, and later graduated from Madison Business College. She was united in marriage to Jim Merlet on August 14, 1965 and they eventually settled in the Sauk Prairie area, where they have lived for the past 42 years, to raise their family. Bonnie was employed at Tarnutzer Dodge and Pathway Clinic for 24 years, retiring in 2010. Bonnie enjoyed walking daily, playing cards, volunteering at the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry, traveling with Jim, and spending time with her grandchidlren. She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Prairie du Sac.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Jim; two sons, Mike (Jenny) of Verona and Mark (Jen) of Cary, IL; four grandchildren, Ryan, Megan, Connor and Brayden; two brothers, Bill (Diane) Beversdorf of Stevens Point and John Beversdorf of Birnamwood; a sister, Linda (Jack) Ramer of Brookfield; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at ST. JOHN EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 100 Oak St., Prairie du Sac, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 6, 2012. Burial will be in the Prairie du Sac Cemetery. Friends may call at ST. JOHN EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2012 and also on Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
