Obituary

Bonnie Olson Willard of Mazomanie, passed away at the 'young 'age of 86 on Monday 1/27/25 at St Mary's Hospital in Madison.  She was born on 10/3/1938, daughter of the late Milton and Hazel (Linley) Olson.  She grew up in Ridgeway, Cross Plains and Mazomanie areas throughout the years, graduating from Mazomanie High School.  She married Milford Olson on 6/8/1957 and together raised 3 children, Rick, Rhonda and Rachelle in rural Mazomanie where they raised cattle and crop farmed.  They taught us how to work hard and have fun which included snowmobiling, boating and camping.  Bonnie worked as a Teachers Aid at Mazomanie Elementary School for over 30 years, enjoying working with children and helping them with the big and small issues that happen in grade school.

In 1981, they purchased a motel, Kilbourn Inn Wisconsin Dells, in 1989, Milford passed away, leaving Bonnie to run the motel until she sold it in 1995.

On May 27, 2000, Bonnie married William "Bill" Willard.  Together they loved camping and traveling to Lake Havasu City AZ as snowbirds, where they enjoyed reconnecting with her cousin Ron and his wife Emily.  Bill passed away in 2009.

In the following years she continued to travel with family and friends, enjoying Florida, a cruise, Niagara Falls, and many other locations.  She filled her time with volunteering at music functions and various church events.

Bonnie loved her family, adoring and cheering on her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was a proud Red Hatters member.  She enjoyed going to lunch with her friends, attending local Music events, and enjoying a good Korbel now and then.  She was hard-working and enjoyed life to its fullest. She loved to shop and especially enjoyed talking on the phone which enabled her to stay connected with family and friends at all times.

She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse Milford Olson, spouse Bill Willard, son Rick Olson, daughter Rhonda Olson Schroeder, brother Jim Olson, Brother-in-law Gene Heidemann and Sister-in-law Elaine Heidemann, Brother-in-law Kenny Olson and Sister-in-law Ardella Olson

She is survived by her daughter, Rachelle (Gary) Wendt, daughter in-law, Cheryl Olson, son in-law, Richard Schroeder, grandchildren, Suzanne (Dave) Justman, Tim (Rhonda) Hollfelder, Lacy Johnson, Brandon Olson, Keaton (Brittany) Wendt, Jenna Wendt, great grandchildren, Brody Nicholson, Mazzy Johnson, Beatrix Johnson, Faith Justman and Cade Justman; special sister in-law, Rose Olson and brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Janice Olson.

Thanks to special friends Deanna, Judy, Gale and Joan (and others I may have missed) for being awesome friends, which enabled her to live independently for the last couple of years.  Thanks to Northwest Dane Senior Center and Papa Pals for their roles in assisting her to live independently.  Also, a thank you to Angel Sanchez, her hairdresser and special friend who kept her hair looking perfect for all occasions.
