September 1, 1960 – August 2, 2025
Brian Abel Mork, age 64, passed away unexpectedly at his home in rural Baraboo on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025. He was born in West Union Iowa on Sept. 1, 1960 to the late Arlo and Betty (Stanz) Mork. He was a graduate of the North High School in West Union; class of 1978.
He attended Fort Dodge Community College and Upper Iowa University in Iowa and later earned an Associate's Degree at MATC in Madison. While in the Madison area he honed his culinary skills at several area restaurants, later working Sears in Chicago and for Schoeps Ice Cream in Madison only to leave to accept a position with Lands' End in Dodgeville. Brian worked for Lands' End for 30 years; retiring in 2020.
Brian was united in marriage to Jeanne Gust on Sept. 13, 1996 at St. Mary's of Lourdes Catholic Church, Belleville. Together they made their home in Verona, later moving outside of Baraboo in retirement. They enjoyed motorcycle trips together, their draft horses-Bob and Ray, their small garden at home, playing cards especially euchre and cooking and entertaining in their kitchen at their new home in Baraboo and adding recipes to his cook book.
Brian is survived by his wife, Jeanne and her children; Angie (Jeff) Fritsch, Heather (Corry) Sokel, Bill Heitman; 4 grandchildren, Alex, Morgan, Nina, Isaiah; siblings, Alvin (Sharon) Mork, Mary (Bill) Lyster, Joyce (Bill) Dunt, Ralph (Stephanie) Mork, Joan (Kim) Malmgren, Greta Davis, John (Kim) Mork; and his best four legged friend, Archie. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Jeffrey; and a sister, Marsha Mork; brother in-law, Dan Davis.
A celebration of Brian's Life will be held at a later date.
