Carl F. Goodwiler, age 83, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Waunakee Manor. He was born in Marshfield on March 19, 1928, the son of the late Carl C. and Gertrude (Serchen) Goodwiler. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Joan Dowling on September 29, 1956. She preceded him in death. Carl was a logger in Muscoda before moving to Mazomanie in 1964, where he farmed and also built, owned and operated Cedar Hills Campground.
He is survived by three brothers, Robert (Edith) Goodwiler of Mineral Point, James (Sally) Goodwiler of Muscoda, and Ronald (Diane) Goodwiler of Appleton; a sister, Ruth Goodwiler of Dodgeville; brother-in-law, Forrest (Linda) Dowling; three sisters-in-law, Helen Bolstad, Doris Conley and June Hirsch; his friend, Betty Linley of Sauk City; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, 702 Emily Rd., Mazomanie, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 with Pastor Dianne Vielhuber officiating. Burial, with military graveside services will be held in the Muscoda Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
