Carl Walter Welke, age 83, died August 27, 2011 at his home. He was born November 16, 1927, in Troy Township, Sauk County, WI. , the son of Walter E. and Caroline (Dahn) Welke.
Carl graduated from Prairie du Sac High School and Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. He served in the Army Medical Care during the Korean War. He spent his life as a hard working farmer and helped his brother in interior decorating and sporting goods distribution. He was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Merrimac. Carl suffered from Parkinson's and was lovingly cared for by his brother Clarence, sister Carol, cousin Jim , the Brett Thompson family and Hospice. He loved caring for his roses and had a great passion for fishing and made many good fishing buddies.
He is survived by his brother, Clarence; a sister, Carol Tank, a cousin, Jim Bernhard, his nephew, Paul (Debbie) Tank. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother in law, Harold Tank; his niece Carol Jean; and a cousin, Betty Colby.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Merrimac, with Pastor Joel Bradtke officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Merrimac. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.Memorial's may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church or to Hospice.
