Carlene J. Roelke, age 62, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013 at home surrounded by family and friends following a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born in Illinois on June 2, 1950, the daughter of the late Robert and Gladys (Piefer) Baumgartner. She was united in marriage to Dennis Roelke on August 23, 1980.


Carlene was a graduate of St. Anthony School of Nursing in Rockford. She was employed at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital and later at the Prairie Clinic.


Survivors include her husband, Dennis; a daughter, Katie (LaVern) Schoepp; three grandchildren, Lauren, Logan and Matthew; two sisters, Linda (Darius) Janssen and Mary (Norm) Brinkmeier; a brother, Gene (Faline) Baumgartner; a brother-in-law, Jim Hess; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Michael and Andy; and a sister, Pat Hess.


Funeral services will be held at CONCORDIA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Prairie du Sac, at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 with Pastor Doris Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in the Prairie du Sac Cemetery. Friends may call at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 4, 2013.

Memorials are preferred for the Susan G. Komen race for the cure.
