Carlton Lee Smith, age 70, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at his home. He was born in Arkansas on June 7, 1938, the son of the late Virgil and Helen Mae (Evans) Smith. Carlton was employed in auto and truck sales and was also a dispatcher for a trucking company. He was a sports fan of the Bears, Cubs and Nascar, and especially a fan of the late Dale Earnhart. He lived with many medical problems but was a fine father and grandfather. He is survived by three children, Mike (Darcia) Smith of Beloit, Todd Smith of Milwaukee and Jill Cofoid of Roscoe, IL; five grandchildren, Tyler and Kelli Smith, and Ben, Greg and Brooke Cofoid; a sister, Irene VanSandt of Dewitt, Arkansas; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother Jim; two sisters, Barb and Patricia; and his former wife, Nancy Smith. A memorial service will be held at Hooverson Funeral Home, Sauk City, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2008 with Pastor Sally Mitchell officiating.
