Carmen Joy Burris, age 56, passed away at her home in Loganville, with her family by her side, on July 15, 2026 after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born March 13, 1970 to Alvern and Patrica (Grossman) Quarberg. She attended school in the Sauk Prairie district, then went on to earn her G.E.D. from the MATC test center in Reedsburg in September of 2013. Carmen was united in marriage to Larry Burris on Feb. 24, 1989. They enjoyed 37 loving years of thrift shopping, planting flowers, and joy riding. She enjoyed the country life and had a soft spot for critters of all kinds, especially horses, possums, and wolves. Carmen stayed busy around her home with her books, baking, and rock hounding. She was raised Lutheran and remained a devout Christian to the end. She joined the Friends religious organization soon after her mother moved into the Burris family home. She looked forward to in-home church services and bible studies with her friends and family. Carmen worked for the Tower Rock Farmstead Bakery for over 12 years where she enjoyed talking about faith and singing hymns with her coworkers between batches of dough.
Carmen is survived by her husband, Larry; her children, Jacqueline (Teren) Rich and their daughter, Hiugei; Vee Burris; and Laura (Steve) Pagel; Her mother, Patricia Quarberg; and siblings, Kaye (Carl) Triggs, Donna Quarberg, Cindy (Kimmy) Schroefer, Melody (Adam) Rivard; she is further survived by numerous relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Alvern Quarberg; sister, Lynn Quarberg; nephew, Matthew Triggs; and uncle, Ray Quarberg.
A service for Carmen will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 23 at Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City, and a visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service.
Carmen’s family would like to express their sincerest thanks to all the Friends, as well as relatives, for their thoughts, help, and prayers. They would like to give special thanks to Shelly, Joey, Jenness, Alma and Melody. You all had a very special place in Carmen's heart and in ours.
