Carmen Louise Putney, age 78, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Merrimac on Mar. 1, 2018. She was born in Milwaukee on Feb. 9, 1940 to the late Roy and Eunice (Strerath) Niemi. Carmen was united in marriage to Gordon A. Putney on June15, 1963. She was employed with the High School Guidance Department in the New Berlin School district for over 25 years; retiring in 2003. She looked forward to annual family trips to Millers Shorewood Vista in Rhinelander, spending time with her family and good friends, tennis, dancing, and bridge.

Carmen is survived by her husband, Gordon of Merrimac; 3 sons, Brandon (Beth) Putney and their children, Bailey, Shelby, and Sheridan of Stoughton, Barton (Christina) Putney and their children, Kai and Soren of Washington D.C., Bretton (Jennifer) and their daughters, Beatrix and Matilda of Middleton; 2 sisters in-law, Julie Kammer of Tx., and Kay Putney of Milwaukee. Carmen is further survived by other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother in-law, James Putney.

As per Carmen's wishes, a private family service will be held.
