Carol I. Frey, age 62, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 10, 2010, at home surrounded by family following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Madison on July 20, 1948, the daughter of Tony and Marie (Statz) Ballweg. She was married to Marvin Frey on February 3, 1968. Carol worked on the Frey hog farm and later at Springs Window Fashions retiring due to illness in 2005 after 22 years. She was a member of St. Norbert's Catholic Church and the Council of Catholic Women. Her many hobbies included flowers, baking, being a huge packers fan but her favorite time was with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband Marvin; four children, Tammy (Brian) Markley, Tony (Dana) Frey, Marla (John Quam) Frey and Mark (Andrea) Frey; her mother, Marie Ballweg; a brother, Richard (Linda) Ballweg; six grandchildren, Laura, Ethan and Addison Markley, Colin Quam, and
Devon and Taylor Frey; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 15 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Norbert's Catholic Church, Roxbury with Fr. John Blewett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 14 at Hooverson Funeral Home.
The family would like to acknowledge the special assistance of Becky Patterson, R.N., Dr. Stewart and Dr. Wisinski, nurses Mary and Wendy and other staff at U.W. Cancer Center as well as the aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and the Lodi Canning Company for always being there.
