Carol A. Spencer, age 60, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Mazomanie on Fri. Aug. 26, 2016. She was born Oct. 5, 1955 to the late Orville "Chet" and Ruth "Arlene" (Rose) Tanner. She married Leonard D. Spencer on Nov. 17, 1979 ; he preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 2013. For almost 30 years, Carol worked as a outreach worker for Head Start of Dane Co. She enjoyed knitting, reading books, pigs, and spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.

Carol is survived by her 3 children, Anzy (Nick) Maerz, Travis Spencer and Tyler (Amanda) Spencer; five grandchildren, Adam, Austin, Mason, Taitym, and Drew; nine siblings, Kenneth (Chris) Tanner, Marti Macha, Jane (Terry) Tanner, Mary Grossman, Linda (Al ) Freitag, Alan Tanner, Shirley Spencer, Mike (Barb) Tanner, and Kathy (Dick) Spencer; sister-in- law Geneva Spencer and brother-in- law Larry Spencer. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 3 brother in-laws.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm on Thur. Sept. 1, 2016 at Hooverson Funeral Home, Hwy 14 West, Mazomanie. A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until the time of service. Interment will be held in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Richland Center.
