Carolyn Augusta Anne McBride, aged 88, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2023 at Sauk County Health Care Center in Reedsburg Wisconsin. She was born on November 25, 1934, in Chicago Illinois to the late Harold and Mabelle (Pabst) Smith.
Carolyn was united in marriage to John T. (Mac) McBride on July 6, 1954. He preceded her in death on February 11, 2003. They raised five children, Thomas, Bridget, Peggy, Heather and Sean.
Carolyn was known for her kindness, generosity, and willingness to help a friend or relative in need. She worked as a secretary, assembly line worker, Head Start Teacher's Assistant, cashier, and other jobs throughout her life as well as den mother for Cub Scouts and Girl Scout Leader. She was an active member of the Juneau County Extension Homemakers Council for 25 years. Her faith was very important to her. Carolyn's hobbies included various crafts, reading, painting pictures, puzzles and cooking/baking. Her passion was taking care of children.
Carolyn is survived by her children Thomas (Diane) McBride, Peggy (Francis Breunig) McBride, and Heather McBride, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild. She is also survived by her sister Arlene, sister-in-law Lonni as well as nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law and father-in-law Ethel and William, brother, William, children, Bridget and Sean, brother-in-law Wally, half brother, Harold, half-sister, Signe June, step-mother Vicki, step-siblings and other relatives.
She was a loving, caring mother and friend to many, and an inspiration to all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Hooverson Funeral Home in Sauk City, WI on December 2, 2023, at 11:00am. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be made to the Sauk County Health Care Center Foundation, 1051 Clark Street, Reedsburg, WI 53959.
Carolyn's family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Sauk Center Health Care Center, especially Eagle Path, for their exceptional care of Carolyn.
