Carolyn H. (Roos) Schwarz, age 95, of Sauk City passed away on Thur. Aug. 18, 2016 at the Pines in Prairie du Sac. She was born March 1, 1921 in rural Roxbury, the daughter of the late Martin and Josephine (Truehl) Roos. Carolyn was united in marriage to Carl A. Schwarz on Sept. 18, 1943; he preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1981.
She has lived in Sauk City the past 62 years in the home that Carl built. In addition to raising her seven children, Carolyn was a foster mother to 20 foster babies for the Catholic Welfare Bureau of Madison. She had a love of travel that included all 50 states, and several countries. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, card playing, quilting, genealogy and especially family events. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and active member of the Council of Catholic Women.
She is survived by her children, Ann (Hillard) Knutson of Sioux City, IA, John (Janet) of Wautoma, Jim (Sharon) and Jerry of Madison, Janet (Robert) Ware of Racine, Phil (Mary) and Jeff of Prairie du Sac; 12 grandchildren, Bradford (Nuala) Jewson, Jason Knutson, Amy (Ranjan) Dahiya, Jill (Matt) Weflen, Jacqueline (Ben) Showole, Tara (Jon) Taves, Jennifer (Ryan) Sunderland, Carolyn (Tim) Grove, Mark (Heidi) Schwarz, Tim (Erica) Schwarz, Allison and Brianne Schwarz and 16 great-grandchildren.
In addition to parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Marcella Simson, Lorraine Shunk, Erna Betts, and Edna Drunasky, and three brothers, Marvin, Hardy and Linus "Marty" Roos.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wed. August 24, 2016 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 115 Madison St., Sauk City with Fr. John Blewett officiating. A Rosary will be prayed at 9:00 am with visitation following until 10:45 am at Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City the morning of the service. Interment will be held in the St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery.
Carolyn's family asks that in lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
