Catherine A. "Katie" Breunig, age 91, died on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Pine Villa in Prairie du Sac. She was born in Plain on April 13, 1923, the daughter of the late Robert and Anna (Ringelstetter) Alt. She was united in marriage to Oscar J. "Ossie" Breunig on January 22, 1942 at St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Roxbury. The couple owned and operated Kate and Ossie's Tavern on Highway 12 near Roxbury, from 1950 - 1959. Katie enjoyed baking, gardening, crocheting and working in her yard.


She is survived by 5 children, Gary (Marie) Breunig, Tom (Maureen) Breunig, Donna (Pat) Schindler, Mark (Judy) Breunig and Greg (Ursula) Breunig; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two siblings, Alma Frosh and Dan (Lucille) Alt; two sister in-laws, Juanita Alt and Janet Alt; other relatives and friends.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; a grandson; and 11 siblings, Marie Kolan, Celia Hemberger, Clara Roos, Florence Breunig, Helen Schulenburg, Carl, Herb, Leonard, Louis, Robert and Hezzie Alt.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ALOYSIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Sauk City, at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 13, 2014 with Fr. John Blewett officiating. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery. A visitation will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. on Friday.
