Obituary

Catherine M Ballweg, age 65, passed away Sunday August 10, 2025 at home with her loving husband by her side.  She was born October 8, 1959 to the late Donald and Delores (Baierl) Moen.  Cathy met the love of her life at a party between her junior and senior year of high school.  John was captivated by her smile, so he asked her to homecoming their senior year.  They married in April of 1979 and built a beautiful life together, raising two children, Matthew and Melissa, and loved their five grandchildren (Alexis, AJ, Hudson, Hallie and Hayden)

Cathy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, as well as a friend to many.  Throughout the years she valued time spent with her family.  She loved watching her kids and grandchildren and followed them to sporting events, dance recitals, concerts and any other event where she could get in a little extra "Grandma time."  She also highly valued her "SNO" (Sister's Night Out) events and enjoyed spending time with her siblings.  Cathy was the social butterfly of the family, meeting many friends while working at the Bank of Prairie du Sac and Baraboo State Bank. Amazingly, Cathy still found time in her life to give.  She was very proud of her volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity and going to schools to teach kids about finances.  To her family, she was also known for her competitiveness.  She loved winning any game she played, especially Scrabble.  To relax, Cathy enjoyed sewing pajamas for the grandchildren and exploring new restaurants and parks while out on her Sunday rides with John.

We have been so blessed to have had her in our life.

Cathy is survived by her husband John Ballweg, and her two children: Matthew (Abbey) Ballweg and Melissa (Travis) Klemm.   Five grandchildren, Hudson, Hallie and Hayden Ballweg, Alexis and Austin James (AJ) Klemm.  Her siblings, Judy (Dave) Ederer, Joanne (Dale) Willis, Carol (Tim) Ballweg, Dan (Nancy) Moen, Janet Moen, Tim (Monica) Moen,  DeeDee (Philip) Brickl and Barb (Jim) Mundy.  Her in-laws, Kathleen (John) Czeshinski, Joseph Ballweg, Virginia (Fred) Beuthin, Jean (Neil) Bauer, Robert Ballweg, Mary Ann (Butch) Kraemer, Rich (Susan) Ballweg, Karen Fiene, James (Jenni) Ballweg, Sandra (Joe Long) and Laura (Dean) Waters, Bernadette Ballweg.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Don and Delores Moen, father and mother in-law Joseph and Marian Ballweg, brother in-law Alan Ballweg, sister in-law Patricia Ballweg, and sister in-law Sue Ballweg.

Special thanks to all the staff at Agrace Hospice, especially nurse Jamie, their kindness, compassion and assistance was very much appreciated by the entire family.
