Obituary

Charles "Chuck" John Henning Jr., age 81, passed away at his home in Sauk City on Monday, August 12, 2013. He was born in Prairie du Sac on March 25, 1932 to the late Charles J. and Wilma (Janney) Henning Sr. Chuck was a graduate of Prairie du Sac High School and later served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He farmed for many years and later worked at the cable company creating the infrastructure that connects Sauk City and Prairie du Sac. After retirement he worked seasonally at the Co-op Agronomy Center. Chuck married Jan Zimmerman on October, 16, 1981. He enjoyed fishing and camping. Chuck was a member of the First United Church of Christ, served on the parish council and was a past member of the choir.

He is survived by his wife, Jan; four sons, Ray (Janis Schauger) Henning, Sauk City, Mike Henning, Prairie du Sac, Tim Henning, Prairie du Sac, and Peter Lashock, Hartford; five grandchildren, Amanda Henning, Jade, Ivory and Christopher Blankenship and Nicole Lashock; a sister, Sarah Hoffman; special caregiver, Peggy; many nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step father, Carl Schwanke; a brother Raymond; a sister, Charlotte Link; and a daughter in-law, Nancy Schwartz.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2013 at 11:00 am at First United Church of Christ, Sauk City. Burial with Military Honors accorded by the Lachmund Cramer VFW Post of Prairie du Sac will follow in the Prairie du Sac Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the Hooverson Funeral Home, Sauk City from 4:00pm until 7:00pm and one hour prior to service at the church.
