Chester "The Old Man" James Gavin, age 73, passed away at his home Friday, April 18, 2025. He was born in Tomahawk, WI on August 14,1951, to the late Ogden Sr. and Leona (Dumproppe) Gavin.

Chester lived in many places throughout his life but, after raising his family primarily in the Mt. Horeb, WI area, settled in Mazomanie, WI.

Chester is survived by his sons, Joshua Gavin (Brynn Haley), Shawn (Kim)Gavin and Steven (Jennifer) Radtke, his step-son, Chester Preston (Janice Buckingham); his brother, Robert Gavin Sr.; his brother-in-law, Donald Wirth; his grandchildren, Blaise Gavin, Synder Gavin, Cheyenne Gavin, Chailae Gavin, Hannah Gavin, Ashley Preston, Trevor Preston, Dorion Preston, Kaden Radtke(Shailyn Frodl), Heaven-Haley Drobnick, Hunter Radtke and Alexis Radtke; his great granchild, Remington Radtke; his nephews, Robert Gavin Jr., Mark Gavin and Jaime Gavin and his ex-wife Lula Gavin. He is further survived by other friends and family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Clearence and Ogden Jr. and his sister, Nettie.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
