Clarence August Welke, loving brother, uncle, cousin, and friend passed away peacefully June 23, 2021 at the UW Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin at age 90.

Clarence was born to Walter and Caroline (Dahn) Welke on July 18, 1930 in Sauk County, Wisconsin. He graduated from Sauk County Normal School and taught school for five years, which he said ruined his health. He was a salesman most of his life. He wore out a pair of shoes walking and selling seeds to neighbors as a youngster. His father wasn't happy. He also sold rugs and draperies. He became a painter and did work inside homes.

His last project was selling wholesale fishing needs and making violator tip-ups for ice fishing. Of course, his favorite pastime was fishing or ice fishing, which he and brother Carl did as long as health allowed.

He was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Merrimac, Wisconsin. He loved the little girls who came for candy. He loved flowers, especially Dahlias and he had a beautiful yard.

Clarence is survived by his sister Carol Tank, cousin Farlene Nelson, nephew Paul (Debbie) Tank, many great nieces and nephews, many great-great nieces and nephews.

Clarence is proceeded in death by his parents, brother Carl, brother-in-law Harold Tank, niece Carol Jean Pulvermacher, and cousin Jim Bernhardt.

Funeral services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 100 Oak Street, Prairie du Sac on Monday, June 28 ^th at 11:30 A.M. Masks will be required in the church. Visitation will be held immediately prior at the church starting at 10:30 AM. Reception at Dorf Haus in Roxbury immediately following funeral services. A private burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Merrimac, WI.
