Claude P. "Shorty" Mazerek, age 82, died on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. He was born in Green Bay on May 16, 1927. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. Claude was united in marriage to Gladys Hanusa Schell on May 12, 1968. He worked at various jobs over his lifetime, which included logging, building homes, General Motors in Janesville, and later at Tilson Roofing Company for almost 40 years. He is survived by his wife, Gladys; 13 children, Linda (Pat) Mazerek of Sauk City, Jay Jay (Mark) Bohling of St. Louis, MO, Angela (Kevin) Mazerek of Baraboo, Claude Mazerek Jr. of Reedsburg, Todd Mazerek of Portage, Heidi (Kevin) Mazerek of Cuba City, Al (Judy) Schell of Baraboo, Chuck (Lori) Schell of Merrimac, LeRoy (Connie) Schell of Loganville, Rose (Jim) Acre of Madison, Jeff (Kay) Schell of Sauk City, Nancy (Jim) Matyskela of Reedsburg, Kathy (Randy) Carpenter of Prairie du Sac, 33 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Carl Schell. Funeral services will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, 251 Water St., Sauk City, at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2009. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service on Monday.
