Cynthia A. Shanks, 74, died peacefully on Sunday, March 15, 2015
She was born in Oshkosh to Kenneth and Helen(DeTroye) Kunde and grew up in Sheboygan eventually working for the public school system.
Cindy met the love of her life, Roger Shanks, and married in 1976. They made their life in Merrimac and were both active members of the community. She very much enjoyed working at the Merrimac grade school and spent her spare time making quilts. She enjoyed reading and was also a member of the Sauk County Library Board.
Roger and Cindy enjoyed a life together that was centered around family and friends. They especially enjoyed hosting many community parties and extended family reunions at their home, Lost Mound Ranch.
Cindy persevered through many health challenges including a liver transplant in 1999 but none was as hard as living the last ten years without her husband Roger.
Cindy's family includes, Ken (Toni)Kunde, Barb (Richard)Thiel, Donna Cox, Troye Shanks (Juli Aulik); Kurtis (Noelle)Shanks, Susan Wagner; Laura (Jim)Hertel and grandchildren Chris Shanks, Elizabeth (Chad)Boehnlein, Brett Shanks, Alex (Arwen)Wagner, Anna Wagner, Bennett Shanks, and Cassidy Shanks.
A Memorial Service will be held 11am at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Merrimac, WI, on Saturday March 28, 2015 with Pastor Lil Belusa presiding. Friends and family may call between 10am and time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to 1000 Friends of Wisconsin or Sauk County Library.
