On January 19, 2024 a ray of sunshine left us when David Lynn Mitchell passed away at his home in Clermont, Florida. David was born on March 3, 1965 to Virginia "Ginger" and David H. Mitchell in Moorehead, Kentucky. David graduated from Moorehead High School where he played clarinet in the high school band. A love of music and performance followed him through life. David graduated from Moorehead State, with a degree in biology and chemistry, then changing from pre-med to finance, he received a master's degree from Keller Graduate School of Accounting and Financial Management.

The majority of David's 30-plus-year career was spent at Truist Bank, formerly Sun Trust Bank in Florida. Music was never far from his banking hours. He played for years in Licorice Sticks Clarinet Orchestra in Orlando, Central Florida Winds, Orlando Concert Band, and was a regular at Rollins College, Dept. of Music.

David's full life of career, music and many friends became complete when he married Mark Laufenberg on October 18, 2013. David and Mark settled in Clermont, Florida where they shared a life of specialty cooking; travel, especially on cruise ships, including several with David's fun-loving mother, aunts and uncles; and exploring the property of Disney World. Time at home together with their fur kids was especially cherished.

David is survived by his beloved husband Mark, brother-in-law Jon Laufenberg, (Cheri and Ben MacDonald) two uncles Bill Taylor (Diana) of Orlando; Rick Taylor (Sara) of Parkers Lake, Ky., two aunts, Debbie Taylor of Parkers Lake, Ky., Beverly Yancey of Somerset, Ky., a host of cousins including Mitchell family in the Corbin area who mourn his passing, very special friends Robin and Ted Henn, Prairie du Sac, WI and their fur children Orpheus, Renoir (Renny) & George Clooney. David is preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Milton and Betty Laufenberg, Aunt Lois Howell and Uncle Bob Taylor.

On Friday. May 17, from 1-4 p.m., a Celebration of the life of David Mitchell will be held at the Vintage, 600 Water St., Sauk Prairie, WI.
